Mad Dog howling in the English Sun,
Mad Dog howling in the English Sun,
A leader of men or just a leader of one?
A silver plaque that bears the inscription.

‘In appreciation of your sterling work.’
Struck fear into the heart of his nation’s folk.

No prison cell could curb his will,
Nor prevent his spread of evil.
A favourite waistcoat for a famous victory,
A hedonist cursed by the scourge of ecstasy.

A love for his country or of his fellow men?
A war on their doorsteps, the sacred and profane.

No longer welcome in the land he helped ‘defend’.
No longer welcome in the company of his once loyal men.
Does this litany of terror finally see its end?
As a tragic figure upon the Scottish coast descends.

Notoriety achieved, a man created by circumstance,
Otherwise drawn to a life of crime, or merely a victim of chance?

Mad Dog howling in the English Sun,
Mad Dog howling in the English Sun.
