West was West and East was East
Where tension reigned there now is peace
We both shared a common foe
Though progress was always slow
Demonstrations were increased, against the nuclear beast
Fukushima saved our lives
Countryside has been revived
Decades we felt under threat
Governments with grave intent
From the atomic afterlife, we were spared, we’ve survived
Flags have all but been burned
Suits have never returned
Futures now confirmed
The neighbourhood can breathe
A world away from the unrest
Many years of fierce protest
Victory can taste so sweet
Especially close to defeat
With a lucky charm we have been blessed
I can attest
